“Culture never goes on vacation”. The Cultural Councilor Valerio Melandri sets the high point of summer in Forlì and, in his weekly blog, presents the season of the San Domenico Arena with a rich program of events that will open on June 10th and end on September 2nd. “In fact, we can assure you that during the summer months we cannot leave the citizens of Forlì alone and offer them” a show every evening “, which has also become the motto of the review – begins Melandri -. Now in its third edition, the Arena San Domenico program in summer always makes me very happy because it simply expresses the key elements of my vision of culture.
Melandri goes into detail about the planned events: “The seventy evenings planned will be staged by about forty cultural and artistic associations and realities in the area. The variety of the themes treated and the different artistic methods with which they are treated will offer the Romagna public the opportunity to choose from a wide range of different shows: between music, comedy, ballet, musicals, family shows, cultural meetings and cinema evenings the participants build their own and personal cultural awareness, without imposition by the administration”.
Melandri wants to “underline the synergy between the public and the private in the summer of the arena. What we carry out is a choral and collective work with the local realities, inspired by the principle of subsidiarity and complementarity. The municipality provides the containers – in this case even more beautiful thanks to the new museum garden – and the local associations fill them with their content without peer. We want to increase the beauty that already exists in the city by giving those who want to provide the right tools and opportunities to make this possible, to create the ideal conditions for experience and talent to express themselves optimally and in favor of citizenship”.
“As an administration – he notes – we have always been guided by the desire to concretely implement a cultural policy in which local authorities and private subjects work together and support each other in order to guarantee the public mission of a cultural offer of great value. A real example of the above is the provision by the community of a high performance technical setup to support the participating subjects. For a total value of 50,000 euros, the service includes technical equipment with audio lighting system and roof structure inside. “American and a specialized technician to support each night. This allows attendees to give quality events back to the public, have more time for rehearsals and save money on staging the shows.”
The cultural themes of the summer arena
“A fundamental ally of the municipality for culture in the summer is once again the Accademia Perduta / Romagna Teatri, which I value very much – the Cultural Council recalls –. Their valuable contribution in terms of programming guarantees the public function of the theater despite its character as a private company, bringing to the city a sense of community without seasons and a theatrical offer of great quality 16 shows on the Arena stage, including comic theater, Youth circus, music, operetta, family shows, art insights, modern, contemporary, neoclassical and acrobatic dance.
Thanks to a new and careful look, these artistic proposals will satisfy the curiosity and attention of the public, whose changes will be interpreted with nationally known, established and emerging talents. The different realities of the area are also essential for the realization of the exhibition that I would like to mention in detail: thanks in particular to the Foundation Cassa dei Risparmi of Forlì and the City Chamber of Commerce, this year the ChiaraMilla Association will contribute to the summer arena. , ForlìMusica, Angelo Masini Musical Institute, Wilma Vernocchi, Association of Friends of Forlì Museums, AUSL, Maurizio Tassani & The men in black, Forlì for Giuseppe Verdi, Associazione Amando, In Arte Academy, La Compagnia dell’ Anello, Earthquake Area, Group Qaos, Orto del Brogliaccio Association, Emilia Romagna Festival, Don Francesco Ricci-La Bottega dell’Orefice Cultural Center, L’Ortica Cultural Center, Entroterre Foundation, Choir of the City of Forlì, Big Ben APS, Band Giuseppe Verdi – Carpinello, Young Musicians European Orchestra, Compagnia Bella – Productions, Cosascuola Academy, Friends of Don Dario – Sadurano Association, Magically Mozart Association, Avis Comunale, Sweet Mama Singers, Teatro delle Forchette, Stadtkapelle von Forlì, Art No.Vi. Forlì-Cesena, La Cumpagni dla Zercia, Committee Forlì Suona, Cla Bela Cumpagnì. I would like to give a special mention to ForlìSuona, the important network of music schools in the city that created the official theme song for the event, directed and edited by Andrea Farì. It is wonderful to see how some of the thousands and more young people involved in this reality’s music courses have come together and committed themselves to giving Forlì such a job well done. In addition, we will reserve some montages in the arena for companies: we will make the arena spaces available for congresses and initiatives, thus uniting the profit, non-profit and public sectors in a single team at the service of culture .
The summer of the Arena for the cultural Forlì of the future
Melandri concludes: “One of our main goals is to encourage a new protagonism of cultural subjects and citizens of Forlì, to rediscover the cultural value of the city and to take care of its creative vitality. Through the Arena we guarantee the continuity of citizenship in the programming of the city’s cultural heritage: without excluding any audience or target audience, we offer theater for twelve months a year, underlining that for us culture must be a structured and constant element for Forlì .Choice or impossibility, he decides to stay in Forlì during the hottest months of the year; as Ruggero Sintoni said a few days ago during the presentation of the summer program: “The city is emptying, but we stay and we are here”. Another example of this will also be the event planned for Saturday September 3: at the end of the summer festival and to open the Autumn Festival in Piazza Saffi t will decorate “Cara Forlì”, the show dedicated to the smooth, Romagna and the Secondo Casadei. In a long-term vision, events like these help to build the path that Forlì wants to add to the national map of “Cities of Culture” daily and on multiple fronts, proposing content, activities, initiatives and events with a wide range and high Quality. “.
