Saturday May 14th, new exceptional opportunity to visit the Sicilian heritage with the entrance ticket at the symbolic price of 1 euro. The Sicilian Region, on the recommendation of the Council for Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity, Alberto Samonajoined that European Museum Nightthe annual event taking place simultaneously in museums across Europe.
From 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (in some places at 12:00 p.m.) it is therefore possible to visit the most important regional museums in Sicily, many of which offer guided tours and special installations for the occasion.
“The Night of Museums promotes culture – underlines the Regional Council for Cultural Heritage and Sicilian Identity, Alberto Samona – and especially invites families to approach art and cultivate beauty. Events such as the European Night and Free Sundays are a powerful incentive to explore our very rich heritage of artworks. Getting closer to the cultural sites, discovering the history of our island and its inhabitants, going to the museum with the children is the best way to get to know Sicily, its identity, its universal dimension. It is the best way to regain awareness of our Sicily, a unique country in the world, despite the many, too many injuries suffered.
To celebrate the evening, many of the Sicilian museums have planned special initiatives. For more certainty about opening times and suggested visits, it is always advisable to consult the websites or fb of the individual museum buildings.

AGRIGENTO – II Griffo Archaeological Museum from Agrigento will be open from 19 to 22 with the following program: at 19 in the garden of the museum concert by the US Naval Forces Europe and Africa Band; at 8:00 p.m. and at 8:45 p.m. guided tour of the thematic circuit “The ethics of war in the ancient Greek world”, at 8:30 p.m. and at 9:45 p.m. Gaetano Aronica reads “Homer, Iliad” by Alessandro Baricco in the Sala Zeus.
CATANIA – In the province of Catania open from 20 to 22: the Adrano Museum ele Dionysian walls. II Ceramic Museum of Caltagirone It is open from 6.30pm to 9pm.
ENNA – The archaeological park of Piazza Armerina and the Villa Romana del Casale offer a visit Roman villaof Palazzo Trigona Museum in Aidone and del Aidone Regional Museum. Also at Terme di Villa del Casale at 21.00 A conversation is held to illustrate il floor mosaic off Tepidarium with remains of the scene from ludi, including the torch relay. The conversation will be moderated by Prof. Paolo Barresi from the Kore University of Enna and Dr. Rosario Patanè, responsible for the expansion activities of the Archaeological Park.
MESSINA – Al MuMe – Interdisciplinary Museum of Messina (open from the 20th to the 24th) will set up a small exhibition and a didactic section of the cult of Mary of the Epistle, patron saint of Messina, whose feast takes place on June 3rd. The works already on display in the museum circuit on the first floor are joined by a 17th-century Chinese transcription of the Epistle of the Madonna to the people of Messina (AD 42) and some artistic works, including two 17th-century Cartagories in engraved and embossed silver. In the evening, the tourist guides of the province of Messina conduct detailed tours, free of charge for young people up to 18 years of age.
Also in the province of Messina, the Archaeological Park of Tindari where it will be possible to visit: theantiquarian bookshop out of Milazzoa Tusa the archaeological area of Halaesa Arconidea limited to aniquarium, Al lapidarium and to the Church of Santa Maria delle Palate. TO patty at the same times the archaeological area is open e l’Antiquarium of Tindari and the Roman Villa. TO Capo d’Orlando free admission from 20 to 24 for the archaeological area from Bagnoli.
In TaorminaThe ancient theater is open daily from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m Giardini Naxos Opening, again from 8pm to 11pm, for the Archaeological Museum.
On the island Lipari The Aeolian Archaeological Museum of Bernabò Brea remains open for visits from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
PALERMO – At the Museum of Modern Art in Riso Palace (closing 12pm, last admission 11.30am) is the last day to visit Seductions, the exhibition by German photographer Uli Weber curated by Daniela Brignone.
Al Regional Archaeological Museum A. Salt pans open until midnight. At an additional cost, you can book a guided tour of the museum’s collection and the statue of Athena at the Acropolis Museum in Athens, and enjoy a glass of wine. Direct inquiries to Coopculture employees.
